Last week was first week since the new year that I have actually properly exercised outside of practice and this weekend we had a closed door bout against the Lincoln damebusters. So much fun! Fantastic game but today I cant move!
Went to see Romantics Anonymous last night and it was totally charming. I keep adding things to my list of things to do (could call them resolutions but it comes with horrible pressure) and watching more foreign films is definately up there.
This is so exciting - christmas and geek all wrapped up together!
We had a closed door bout on Saturday which was very closed so im not allowed on pain of boiling oil or melted lead to mention if we won or lost or any hint of the score. We have not played that much this year due to many reasons so its such a pleasure to play with my team and not against them. For the first time in a while I felt like a useful member of the team. We have been working on strategies and communication and we actually put them into practice. There is still loads we need to work on but I for one feel like im focusing less on going for those big hits and concentrating on control of the pack and staying together in walls. I came away feeling like whatever the score we could be proud of our team work and that game play wise we are headed in the right direction. I also find it really interesting working with a full compliment of refs. I really racked up the minor forearms and elbows. I seem to be a bit overly touchy im not pushing anyone just resting my hands on the opposing team and that is obviously a foul. Also noticed that everytime I did risk going in for a big hit I was sent off for major elbows so there are some obvious problems I need to work on. Anyway it was fun, we worked hard and I have learnt lots about the things I need to improve on so im pretty excited for next year and lots more bouts!
So I had three trips to the box on saturday for failure to reform the pack, blocking out of play, and then 4 minors which im not sure what they were but im guessing there is an elbows, forearms and a minor track cut in there somewhere. So here I sit with a gormless look on my face (I hate mouthguards) waiting to get back on the track.

Had a fantastic weekend seeing friends and my team hosting our first mixed scrimmage in Birmingham. It was so much fun although I always feel a bit lost in mixed teams. One of the big problems was I couldnt stop. I really rely on plough stops and they were really hard on this floor. I must keep practicing my derby stops so that I can do them without thinking.
Been trying to make a few things to sell at our christmas party and think these might be a winner… now to hunt for a pattern.
Hustle’Her from CentralCity Roller Girls! She is made of win!
Saw CCR play on saturday and came away pretty hoarse from all the screaming. Great game!
Ive been looking for something to do with the large bag of damsons taking up room in the freezer and this is it!
